On July 17, Dissemination Conference “From pilots to sustainable results: HIV and health systems reform in Ukraine” was launched. Since 2013, the USAID HIV Reform in Action Project (HIVRiA), implemented by Deloitte Consulting, LLP, has supported the Government of Ukraine to strengthen Ukraine’s health system infrastructure to ensure effective and sustainable delivery of HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and treatment services to key populations.
HIVRiA experts, national and regional partners presented HIVRiA lessons learned and key achievements to around 200 participants of the event. Ukraine is in the midst of implementing significant and challenging health care reforms and changes to the public health system. This conference gathers key stakeholders from Government, regional authorities, civil-society, health care practitioners, donor organizations, and academia to discuss the reforms and to share knowledge and insights. Government agencies (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Social Policy), representatives from regional and municipal administrations, regional health departments, health care facilities in target regions, international partners, academic and expert communities as well as non-governmental and civil society organizations discussed how they can incorporated into future reform efforts to support Ukraine’s health system.
The conference focused on topics such as strengthening the public health system in responding to critical health challenges, building better health systems, and on the sustainability and scalability of health systems at the regional and local levels. Other featured themes were primary health care, strengthening of national institutions, planning resources for HIV sustainable response, quantifying and developing health workforce, as well as the tools for successful health reform implementation.
The Conference will finish its work on July 18th. All presentations will be available on HIVRiA’s website after the event.
